“Our AIM is to improve the quality of life within the greater Milan area through volunteerism and community action that promotes a stable food supply and healthy living.”

What We Do

  • Pantry Programs

Our pantry programs have seen a steady increase in the need for this service since COVID.

With the continued increase in grocery costs, it’s not a surprise that we serve more and more clients every year.

We continue to offer our on site Grab & Go Pantry and Pantry on Wheels delivery programs, as well as our Pop Up Pantries.

  • Direct Aid

1 in 4 people in our service area are employed, but still unable to pay all their bills every month. As the cost of living continues to rise and wages stagnate, paying the electric, gas, water, and rent can be overwhelming.

If a person’s hours are cut or they lose their job, this can throw a family’s budget into crisis. Other normal life events like an illness or a large medical or car repair bill is often enough to start a downward financial spiral without intervention.

  • Advocacy & Education

As our staff uncover our client’s needs, they provide referrals to other agencies and services that can provide other important resources necessary to breaking out of poverty.

We use an empowerment-based model which means that we assist clients at the level they request. That can be as simple as providing a list of resources or as involved as helping someone access the correct applications and submit paperwork.

AIM is expanding!

Since March 2020, AIM has seen a 300% increase in food distribution. The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically altered the way in which we operate, and we are seeking to meet the need of our community—and Southeastern Michigan—by expanding our operations!

Our historic building is undergoing renovations to better meet the needs of our clients. Our plans include:

  • Adding more storage cabinets and workspace in the pantry

  • Increasing ADA compliance throughout the building to create an inclusive environment

  • Adding staff office space to provide a quiet, welcoming space for our clients

  • Creating a “Community Collab” meeting space to provide a place for our board, volunteers, and other community groups to meet and collaborate to better serve our community

  • Updating our building’s technology and phone systems to maximize efficiency

We are looking to the future, and we ask you to join us in working to make this vision a reality! We are immensely grateful for the assistance of a generous donor to kick-start these projects, but we still need to raise $20,000.

Please consider making a gift towards these renovations. You can give online through this link or by sending a check to Aid in Milan, 89 W. Main St., Milan, MI 48160 with “Building Fund” on the memo line.
